DNI Gabbard refers intel officials to DOJ for prosecution over alleged leaks of classified information

Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard has taken a bold step in cracking down on leaks of classified information within the intelligence community. Two intelligence professionals have been referred to the Department of Justice for criminal prosecution over alleged leaks to major news outlets, with a third referral on the way.

Gabbard, in an exclusive statement to Fox News Digital, emphasized the importance of ending the politicization of intelligence and holding those responsible for leaking classified information accountable. She stated, “Those who leak classified information will be found and held accountable to the fullest extent of the law.”

The decision to refer individuals for criminal prosecution is part of a larger effort to restore transparency and accountability in the intelligence community. Gabbard has established a new task force, the Director’s Initiative Group (DIG), to investigate weaponization, root out politicization, and expose unauthorized disclosures of classified intelligence.

The process of referring individuals for criminal prosecution involves an internal review followed by a formal referral to the Justice Department, which then initiates a criminal investigation by the FBI. This move serves as a warning to any intelligence community members considering leaking information to the media.

In addition to addressing leaks, Gabbard has also taken action against employees involved in sexually explicit chatrooms at the NSA. The focus is on upholding security protocols and ensuring that classified information is safeguarded.

The Trump administration is committed to identifying and holding accountable anyone who leaks classified information. Further criminal referrals may be made as warranted, as the administration continues to aggressively investigate leaks.
