DOGE announces elimination of more ‘wasteful’ contracts

The Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), led by Elon Musk, announced the termination of numerous contracts and grants totaling hundreds of millions of dollars. According to a post on X, federal agencies have axed 269 contracts with a total value of $845M, resulting in savings of $255M.

Among the terminated contracts were grants worth $90 million, which included funding for a BIPOC culinary program and a Russian-Far East biodiversity partnership. Additionally, a $50,000 consulting contract with the Department of the Interior for problem-solving services was also terminated.

Attorney General Pam Bondi revealed that the Justice Department eliminated grants such as $2 million for national listening sessions and $625,000 for a study on the efficacy of police departments’ LGBTQ liaison services.

DOGE’s aggressive approach to cutting wasteful spending and streamlining the federal government has been met with praise. Elon Musk’s leadership in spearheading these efforts has been instrumental in achieving significant cost savings.

The move to eliminate these contracts and grants reflects DOGE’s commitment to efficiency and fiscal responsibility. By identifying and cutting unnecessary expenditures, the department aims to ensure that taxpayer dollars are used effectively and responsibly.
