DOJ begins turning over Epstein documents to House Oversight today

The Department of Justice (DOJ) is preparing to hand over documents related to the Jeffrey Epstein case to the House Oversight Committee on Friday.
Committee Chair James Comer, R-Ky., stated that while there is no specific timeline for the release of the materials, he does expect them to be delivered on Friday. He also mentioned that the documents will be made public after the committee has had a chance to review them.
“We want to ensure that we handle this sensitive information with care and do not harm any victims involved in this case. However, we are committed to transparency and will be working with the White House on this matter,” Comer said.
The subpoena for the DOJ documents related to Epstein was issued by a bipartisan vote last month. The deadline for the subpoena was initially set for earlier in the week but was extended to Friday to accommodate the Trump administration’s efforts to comply with the request.
Comer emphasized that there are numerous records in the DOJ’s possession, and it will take time to review and redact any sensitive information before releasing them to the public.
The requested documents include all communications and files related to Epstein and Ghislaine Maxwell, as well as any materials related to human trafficking, exploitation of minors, and sexual abuse. The committee is also seeking information on Epstein’s non-prosecution agreement in 2007 and any details surrounding his death.
The Epstein case has sparked renewed interest on Capitol Hill, with both Democrats and Republicans calling for more transparency. The DOJ recently closed its review of the case, confirming Epstein’s death by suicide and dispelling rumors of a client list or blackmail of prominent individuals.
As the House Oversight Committee continues its probe into the Epstein case, both parties are working to ensure that the information is handled responsibly and made public in a timely manner. The DOJ has yet to comment on the matter.
