DOJ ‘politicized’ under Biden, Ted Cruz confident Pam Bondi will reverse it

As Senate confirmation hearings for several of President-elect Donald Trump’s cabinet picks get underway, Sen. Ted Cruz, R-Texas, is particularly eager to see former Florida Attorney General Pam Bondi confirmed as the nation’s top law enforcement official.

Cruz expressed his confidence in Bondi’s abilities during her confirmation hearing, stating that she did a terrific job and will be confirmed as the next attorney general. He went on to say that Bondi, who also served as a personal lawyer to Trump, may be the single most important cabinet nominee President Trump has made.

The Texas senator pointed out the politicization and weaponization of the Department of Justice under the Biden administration, emphasizing the need for a change in leadership. Cruz highlighted Bondi’s commitment to investigating the thousands of unaccounted-for migrant children who have entered the United States, a pressing issue that needs to be addressed.

During Bondi’s confirmation hearing, Cruz asked her directly about her plans to investigate the missing migrant children, to which she responded affirmatively. Cruz expressed his confidence that Bondi will follow through on her promise if confirmed as attorney general, emphasizing the importance of protecting vulnerable children who have been entrusted to the government’s care.

Republican lawmakers have been critical of the Biden administration’s handling of the illegal migrant crisis, particularly in regard to the treatment of unaccompanied minors. Cruz and other members of Congress have called for investigations into the handling of migrant children by federal agencies, highlighting the need for accountability and protection of these vulnerable individuals.

Bondi’s nomination has garnered support from current and former state attorneys general, as well as over 100 former top Department of Justice officials. The Senate Judiciary Committee is expected to vote on her nomination in the coming days, with a full Senate confirmation vote anticipated shortly thereafter.

Overall, Cruz’s support for Bondi and his emphasis on the importance of addressing the issues surrounding missing migrant children reflect the broader concerns within the Republican Party regarding the Biden administration’s immigration policies. As the confirmation process moves forward, all eyes will be on Bondi and her plans to lead the Department of Justice in a new direction.
