Dolphins’ Tua Tagovailoa ‘unlikely’ to play with playoff berth at stake due to hip injury

The Miami Dolphins are facing a crucial game against the New York Jets with a playoff berth on the line. However, it seems that they will have to do it without their starting quarterback, Tua Tagovailoa, who is unlikely to see any action due to a hip injury. Head coach Mike McDaniel confirmed this news in a press conference on Friday, leaving the Dolphins’ playoff hopes in the hands of backup quarterback Tyler “Snoop” Huntley.

In last week’s game against the Cleveland Browns, Huntley stepped up in Tagovailoa’s absence and put on an impressive performance. He completed 22-26 passes for 225 yards and a touchdown, while also rushing for 52 yards and a rushing touchdown. The Dolphins managed to secure a 20-3 win with Huntley at the helm, boosting their chances of making it to the playoffs.

If the Dolphins can defeat the Jets and the Kansas City Chiefs beat the Denver Broncos, then Miami will clinch the No. 7 seed in the AFC. This would set up a matchup against the Buffalo Bills in the playoffs. However, if the Broncos manage to pull off a win against the Chiefs, they will advance regardless of the outcome of the Dolphins-Jets game.

Despite his injury, Tagovailoa remains optimistic about returning to the field if the Dolphins make the playoffs. He expressed his determination to play, stating, “There’s no ifs, ands, or buts allowed. I’ll be playing. That’s for sure.” Tagovailoa has had a solid season, completing 72.9% of his passes for 2,867 yards, with 19 touchdowns and seven interceptions in 11 games.

This season has been a challenging one for Tagovailoa, who has faced multiple injuries that have sidelined him at various points. However, he remains focused on helping his team secure a playoff spot and make a postseason run. With the fate of the Dolphins hanging in the balance, Huntley will need to step up once again and lead the team to victory in Tagovailoa’s absence.

As the Dolphins gear up for this crucial game, fans will be eagerly watching to see if they can secure a playoff spot and continue their pursuit of a championship. The stakes are high, and every play will be crucial as the Dolphins look to make a statement in the postseason.
