Dozens of illegal immigrants hauled out of Florida construction sites

In a recent operation conducted by immigration authorities in Florida, more than two dozen illegal aliens were arrested at construction sites in Wildwood, Florida. The raids were part of worksite enforcement encounters carried out by Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) Tampa.

Wildwood, a city in Sumter County, is located about an hour northwest of Orlando. The arrested illegal immigrants were reported to be from Mexico, Guatemala, and Honduras. While a video shared by HSI Tampa showed authorities walking through a neighborhood with newly constructed homes, a photo posted by the agency seemed to capture an arrest at a construction site in Wildwood.

It was revealed that some of the illegal immigrants had been previously deported, though their previous criminal history remains unclear. The exact number of arrests made during the operation has not yet been disclosed.

HSI Tampa also stated that they are actively investigating construction companies in the rapidly growing region of the U.S. to determine if they are employing illegal aliens and violating federal immigration laws.

The crackdown on illegal immigration in Florida comes on the heels of Governor Ron DeSantis announcing that more than 100 Florida Highway Patrol troopers were sworn in as special deputy U.S. Marshals. This designation allows them to enforce immigration laws independently of the federal government.

During a recent press conference, Governor DeSantis expressed his commitment to enforcing immigration laws and highlighted the state’s efforts in combating illegal immigration. He criticized the Biden administration for its lax border enforcement policies, stating that Florida has been a model for the rest of the country in this regard.

The Department of Homeland Security (DHS), Florida Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles, ICE, and ICE Miami have not yet provided comments on the operation. The crackdown on illegal immigration at construction sites in Florida underscores the state’s commitment to upholding federal immigration laws and ensuring the safety and security of its residents.
