Driver arrested after speeding stolen car crashes in Kings County

RCMP have one man in custody after a stolen car crashed in Kings County Saturday morning.
RCMP spokeswoman Allison Gerrard said in an email that shorty after 10 a.m. an RCMP member clocked a grey Acura driving 84 km/h in a 50 km/h zone on Highway 358 in Canning.. The officer turned on their emergency lights to follow the vehicle, which turned onto Church Street.in Port Williams.
After the officer came upon the vehicle about 1.5 km up the road, where it had crashed into the ditch after it didn’t make a turn and then popped back out crossway on the road.
The vehicle, which had been reported stolen in New Brunswick, was heavily damaged.
The man was arrested at the scene and taken to hospital by paramedics as a precaution. Port Willians firefighters were also called to deal with fluids leaking from the vehicle.
The road was closed for a time while investigators worked at the scene.
Police said the 26-year-old driver, from Canning, was prohibited from driving at the time. He remains in custody and is facing charges of possession of stolen property over $5,000 and dangerous driving.
The investigation is continuing.
