Eagles’ A.J. Brown recalls feeling like a ‘paid actor’ at previous Super Bowl, a loss to the Chiefs

Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver A.J. Brown made headlines recently when cameras captured him passing time during a game reading a self-help book titled “Inner Excellence” by Jim Murphy. This seemingly innocuous sideline routine caused a significant spike in book sales, propelling “Inner Excellence” to the top spot on Amazon’s trending list the day after the Eagles’ wild-card win over the Green Bay Packers.

Prior to Brown’s public display of reading the book, “Inner Excellence” was ranked at a modest 523,497 on Amazon. However, the attention brought on by Brown quickly turned the book into a bestseller overnight.

As Brown and the Eagles gear up to face off against the Kansas City Chiefs in the upcoming Super Bowl, they are hoping to avoid a repeat of their heartbreaking loss in the 2023 championship game. In that game, Brown put up an impressive performance with six catches for 96 yards and a touchdown, but the Eagles ultimately fell short as the Chiefs secured a 38-35 victory.

Two full NFL seasons have passed since that loss, but the memory of letting a Super Bowl championship slip away still lingers for the Eagles. Quarterback Jalen Hurts and Brown both reflect on missed opportunities that could have changed the outcome of the game, with Brown still haunted by a missed touchdown opportunity.

Despite the disappointment of the 2023 Super Bowl, Brown has continued to shine on the field, finishing the 2024 season with 67 catches and over 1,000 yards despite missing four games. His standout performance led to a lucrative three-year contract extension with the Eagles, making him one of the highest-paid wide receivers in the NFL.

As the Super Bowl hype builds, Brown remains focused on the task at hand and tries to block out distractions. He has turned down numerous media requests to maintain his focus on the game and the team’s preparation for the big showdown against the Chiefs.

Brown and the Eagles are determined to make the most of their second chance at Super Bowl glory and are eager to rewrite their championship story this time around. The Super Bowl LIX will kick off at 6:30 p.m. ET on February 9 at the Caesars Superdome in New Orleans, and fans can catch all the action on Tubi.
