Eagles’ Jalen Hurts dodges question about White House visit

The Philadelphia Eagles have accepted an invitation from President Donald Trump to visit the White House in celebration of their Super Bowl LIX victory over the Kansas City Chiefs. However, star quarterback Jalen Hurts’ attendance at the event may be in question.
During a red carpet event for the 2025 TIME100 gala in New York City, Hurts was asked if he planned on attending the White House visit on April 28. He hesitated before looking around and never provided a clear answer to the question.
The Eagles had previously declined an invitation to the White House in 2018 after winning their first-ever Super Bowl, following disagreements over players’ participation in national anthem protests. However, team owner Jeffrey Lurie has since referred to the visit as a “time-honored tradition” that the team is looking forward to.
Head coach Nick Sirianni expressed his excitement for the upcoming visit, calling it an honor to be able to go to the White House. He emphasized the significance of the tradition for championship-winning teams.
President Trump, who has made several appearances at sporting events both as president and during his campaign, was in New Orleans for the Super Bowl. The Eagles’ visit to the White House is seen as a symbolic moment for the team and a chance to celebrate their victory.
