Electricity restored in Dartmouth after power line catches fire

Around 2,600 Nova Scotia Power customers near Mic Mac Mall in Dartmouth, N.S., had their power restored after a power line caught fire Sunday morning, causing an outage. The outage was restored around 2 p.m. AT Sunday, ahead of Nova Scotia Power’s 3 p.m. estimate.
Drew MacCulloch, district chief for Halifax Regional Fire and Emergency, stated that crews extinguished a small fire from a downed power line on the front lawn of a house on Sea King Drive after receiving a call at 8:48 a.m. AT. Nova Scotia Power crews arrived at the site and promptly turned off the power to address the issue.
The repair process was reportedly more challenging due to the makeup of the power pole, as mentioned in a statement released by Nova Scotia Power. The utility apologized for the inconvenience faced by customers during the outage. Mic Mac Mall was forced to close temporarily due to the power outage but announced its reopening at 2:30 p.m. on Sunday afternoon.
