Elliot Page honoured at PTP Pink Awards

PTP Pink Awards Celebrates LGBTQ2S+ Excellence

Actor Elliot Page, singer-songwriter Rufus Wainwright, and professional hockey player Marie-Philip Poulin are among the distinguished LGBTQ2S+ individuals being honored at the inaugural PTP Pink Awards tonight.

Hosted by media company Pink Triangle Press, the gala aims to recognize outstanding LGBTQ2S+ Canadians who have made a significant impact. Each honoree has the opportunity to select an individual or community organization that they believe has contributed positively to the community.

The recipients chosen by these notable figures will each receive a $5,000 prize, participation in an advocacy media campaign, and a portion of the proceeds from a silent auction. Among the other honorees are queer activist Latoya Nugent, musician Jeremy Dutcher, and philanthropist Salah Bachir, who will be receiving the Legacy Award for his charitable work.

The PTP Pink Awards ceremony will feature performances by Wainwright, Dutcher, and neo-soul artist Katie Tupper. The event will be hosted by Priyanka, the inaugural winner of “Canada’s Drag Race.”

Jennifer McGuire, Managing Director of Pink Triangle Press, explained that the inspiration behind the awards show was the increasing hostility towards the LGBTQ2S+ community in various regions. She emphasized the importance of highlighting positivity and recognizing those who are making a difference.

Pink Triangle Press, the publisher of Xtra Magazine, is dedicated to promoting LGBTQ2S+ representation in Canadian media. The organization plays a crucial role in advocating for inclusivity, similar to GLAAD in the United States.

The PTP Pink Awards ceremony will be livestreamed on Xtra’s YouTube page, allowing viewers to join in celebrating LGBTQ2S+ excellence.
