Email says Sask. RCMP commander Rhonda Blackmore removed because of ‘anonymous complaints’

New RCMP Commander in Saskatchewan Dismissed Due to Anonymous Complaints

The former commander for RCMP in Saskatchewan, Rhonda Blackmore, recently revealed in an email to staff of F Division that she has been removed from her position due to anonymous complaints. The email, which was posted online and confirmed by CBC, stated that the decision to dismiss her was made by the Senior Executive at National Headquarters.

Blackmore expressed her disappointment in the email, saying, “It is with great disappointment I am writing today to advise you that as of this morning, Tuesday, June 3rd, I have been removed as the Commanding Officer ‘F’ Division. The decision was made by the Senior Executive at National Headquarters.” She went on to explain that she was informed that the action was taken as a result of anonymous complaints against her, although the specific nature of these complaints was not disclosed.

While RCMP Saskatchewan media relations did not confirm the dismissal, they directed inquiries to national headquarters. The media team at national headquarters acknowledged receiving questions from CBC but did not provide an immediate response.

Blackmore took on the role of commanding officer for Saskatchewan’s RCMP in April 2021. During her time in this position, she focused on initiatives to attract more First Nations applicants to the force and handled significant challenges, such as the mass murder at James Smith Cree Nation and the subsequent public inquiry.
