Erin Andrews says that regular impressions have saved her from a deadly cancer

Erin Andrews, a survivor of cervical cancer, is championing the importance of early cancer screening in a national movement that hits close to home. As a member of the A-Team on FOX NFL Sunday and host of Fox’s “99 to Beat”, Andrews credits a routine check-up for detecting her cancer in its early stages, ultimately saving her life.
In an interview with Fox News Digital, Andrews revealed that she received her shocking diagnosis in 2017 after attending her annual appointment with her gynecologist. Despite having no symptoms and maintaining a healthy lifestyle, Andrews was blindsided by the news. However, because she had been proactive about her health and had undergone regular screenings, the cancer was caught early and successfully treated with two operations.
Now, Andrews is partnering with AFFAC, a leading cancer insurance provider, to launch the ‘Check for Cancer’ campaign. The initiative aims to encourage Americans to prioritize regular cancer screenings and take control of their health. Andrews stresses the importance of being proactive and not delaying screenings out of fear or uncertainty.
Early detection is crucial, especially for younger individuals, as cancer rates continue to rise across all age groups. The ‘Check for Cancer’ campaign seeks to increase cancer screenings by 10% over the next decade, utilizing a checkered pattern as a visual reminder for individuals to schedule their appointments.
According to data from the American Cancer Society, one in three Americans will be diagnosed with cancer in their lifetime. Despite this statistic, a recent AFFAC Wellness Matters Survey found that 90% of American adults admit to postponing recommended screenings.
Starting September 3, 2025, AFFAC will provide resources for cancer screening and early detection on its website. For every social media post using #Checkforcer, AFFAC will donate $5 to research and care for children with childhood cancer, up to $1 million.
President Virgil Miller of AFFAC emphasizes the importance of early detection in saving lives, stating that routine screenings should be integrated seamlessly into daily life. By making cancer screenings a priority, individuals can take control of their health and potentially prevent serious health issues down the line.
