Europe backs Zelenskyy over Trump following White House flare up

The meeting resulted in harsh reprimands and accusations of Zelenskyy being “disrespectful” from the American leaders.
Several European leaders took to social media to express their backing for Ukraine and to remind Washington that Russian President Vladimir Putin is the real aggressor in the Russia-Ukraine conflict, not Zelenskyy. The EU’s chief diplomat, Kaja Kallas, strongly rebuked Trump and vowed to step up support for Ukraine in their fight against the aggressor.
French President Emmanuel Macron emphasized the importance of supporting Ukraine and sanctioning Russia, while UK Conservative Party leader Kemi Badenoch highlighted the need for respectable diplomacy and condemned Putin as a war criminal.
Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Stoere expressed disappointment in the White House’s actions and reiterated Norway’s support for Ukraine. Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk assured Zelenskyy and Ukraine that they are not alone in their struggle.
Germany’s incoming chancellor Friedrich Merz stood with Ukraine and denounced the aggressor-victim confusion in the war. However, leaders like Turkey’s Recep Erdogan and Italy’s Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni remained silent on the issue.
On the other hand, Russian officials, including former President Dmitry Medvedev, criticized Zelenskyy and praised Trump for his actions in the Oval Office. Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau reiterated Canada’s support for Ukraine and their fight for democracy and sovereignty.
Overall, European leaders have shown unwavering support for Ukraine in the face of geopolitical tensions and have emphasized the need for unity in standing against aggression. The events of the day have highlighted the importance of diplomacy and cooperation in resolving conflicts and ensuring peace and security for all nations involved.
