Ex-MLB All-Star Jonathan Lucroy unafraid to share conservative views despite hate mail
Former MLB catcher Jonathan Lucroy recently shared his experience of receiving hate mail after expressing his conservative views on social media. In a recent interview on “OutKick the Morning,” Lucroy opened up about the backlash he faced after posting his political and cultural opinions around Election Day. Despite the negative messages, he also received an outpouring of support from fans and even non-baseball followers who appreciated his candidness.
Lucroy also revealed that he had been asked by an MLB team to kneel for the national anthem during a time of social unrest in 2020, but he refused. In response to the hate mail he received, Lucroy remained unfazed, stating that words have little effect on him, especially when it comes to standing up for his values.
The former MLB star emphasized that he is not easily swayed by criticism, having faced death threats and booing from fans during his playing days. He expressed his belief that athletes should not be afraid to speak out and take action on issues they care about, regardless of the backlash they may receive.
Lucroy also touched on the issue of conservative views in MLB, claiming that the majority of American-born players hold conservative beliefs but are often pressured to remain neutral. He asserted that he will no longer stay silent on his beliefs, prioritizing his family, faith, and country above all else.
Additionally, Lucroy discussed the vaccine mandate in MLB, revealing that one team had informed him that players who did not get vaccinated would not be able to see their families for three months. Despite this, he acknowledged that the mandate was imposed by the CDC and forced on MLB.
Throughout his career, Lucroy was a two-time All-Star and played for teams like the Milwaukee Brewers, Boston Red Sox, and Philadelphia Phillies. His outspoken nature and refusal to back down from his beliefs have garnered both support and backlash, but Lucroy remains steadfast in his convictions.
