Ex-NFL player and Gamecocks defensive line coach injured in car accident

South Carolina Gamecocks defensive line coach and former NFL player, Travian Robertson, is currently in stable condition after being injured in a car accident on Friday morning. The university released a statement confirming Robertson’s status and expressing optimism for his full recovery.

Head coach Shane Beamer assured fans that Robertson, who has been with the Gamecocks as an assistant coach for three years, is expected to make a complete recovery following the accident. The school’s statement urged the community to keep Robertson and his family in their thoughts and to respect their privacy during this challenging time.

Sources revealed that Robertson, a 36-year-old former NFL player, sustained a significant lower leg injury in the accident. Details surrounding the incident are still unknown, but reports indicate that he was involved in a head-on collision and underwent surgery on his ankle at the hospital.

A standout defensive tackle at South Carolina, Robertson was drafted by the Atlanta Falcons in the seventh round of the 2012 NFL Draft. He also had brief stints with the Seattle Seahawks and Washington before his time with the Gamecocks.

Unfortunately, Robertson’s injuries may prevent him from being on the sidelines when South Carolina faces off against Virginia Tech in their upcoming season opener on August 31st. Despite this setback, the team remains hopeful for his speedy recovery.
