EXCLUSIVE: House DOGE subcommittee investigating government media agency

Chairwoman Marjorie Taylor Greene, R-GA, is leading an investigation into the U.S. Agency for Global Media (USAGM) for what she describes as “gross negligence” and “rampant cronyism.” The government media agency, which oversees outlets like Voice of America and Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty, has come under scrutiny for mismanagement and corruption.
Greene, in an exclusive interview with Fox News Digital, emphasized that the abuses at USAGM pose a direct threat to national security. She highlighted a 2020 investigation by independent law firm McGuireWoods that confirmed whistleblower testimonies of severe mismanagement and corruption within the agency.
Kari Lake, a senior advisor in the Trump administration overseeing USAGM, has been vocal in criticizing the agency, calling it “not salvageable” and a “national security risk.” President Trump recently signed an executive order to dismantle USAGM and six other government offices.
Before the agency is completely shut down, Greene is pushing for Congress to have access to key records from USAGM. In a letter to Lake, she requested information on serious allegations of corruption, financial mismanagement, and national security failures.
The investigation revealed unlawful practices such as granting visas and awarding contracts through the Open Technology Fund to friends and individuals with conflicts of interest. Additionally, senior officials were found to have erased hard drives before turning them in to investigators.
Despite some individuals being fired under the Trump administration, Greene expressed concern that many of those involved in the wrongdoing were rehired under the Biden administration without facing consequences. She believes this decision not only insults taxpayers but also poses a direct threat to national security.
Greene is demanding access to information on grant agreements, settlement agreements for implicated individuals, and any relevant communications from Lake. She is determined to hold those responsible for the abuses at USAGM accountable and prevent any cover-ups of illegal activities.
In conclusion, Greene stated, “We will not allow the former Biden regime to cover up illegal activity and shield bad actors from accountability.” The investigation into USAGM continues to uncover concerning practices that have put national security at risk.
