Trump: ‘I have my own deadline’ for securing Ukraine-Russia peace deal

President Donald Trump reiterated his commitment to his own timeline for brokering a peace deal between Russia and Ukraine during a meeting with Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Store at the White House. Trump’s comments came after he suggested on Wednesday that a peace agreement could be reached in the coming days.
“I have my own deadline,” Trump told reporters on Thursday. “And we wanted to be fast. And the Prime Minister’s helping us. He wants it to be fast, too. And I think everybody in this, at this time in NATO, they want to see this thing happen.”
Trump emphasized that his main goal is to save lives by securing a peace deal, regardless of any allegiance to either Russia or Ukraine. He expressed his disapproval of Russia’s continued strikes on Kyiv, which resulted in casualties, including children.
“I am not happy with the Russian strikes on Kyiv. Not necessary, and very bad timing,” Trump stated in a social media post. “Vladimir, STOP! 5000 soldiers a week are dying. Let’s get the Peace Deal DONE!”
The White House has not provided further details on Trump’s self-imposed deadline. However, Vice President JD Vance disclosed that a proposal is on the table, and if both parties do not agree, the U.S. will disengage from the peace talks. The proposed deal would involve territorial concessions from both Russia and Ukraine, with boundaries remaining close to their current positions.
Despite the recent attacks from Russia, Trump remains optimistic that both countries are willing to negotiate for peace. However, he criticized Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy for opposing certain concessions related to Crimea, which he believes could hinder the progress of peace negotiations.
“We’ve issued a very explicit proposal to both the Russians and Ukrainians, and it’s time for them to either say yes or for the U.S. to walk away from this process,” Vance told reporters.
The Trump administration has indicated that a peace deal may be within reach, with Trump expressing hope that an agreement could lead to expanded business opportunities with the U.S. for both Russia and Ukraine. Since the campaign trail, Trump has been committed to resolving the conflict between the two countries.
In conclusion, President Trump’s determination to reach a peace deal between Russia and Ukraine remains steadfast, with a focus on saving lives and promoting stability in the region. Despite challenges and disagreements, the administration continues to work towards a resolution that benefits all parties involved.
