Failed VP candidate Tim Walz skewered after hinting at potential 2028 presidential run

Failed 2024 Democratic vice presidential candidate and current Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz has recently hinted at a potential 2028 presidential run, sparking a wave of online mockery and sarcastic comments from critics urging him to jump into the race.

Following his unsuccessful bid alongside former Vice President Kamala Harris on the Democrats’ 2024 ticket, Walz raised eyebrows during a conversation with the New Yorker when asked about a potential presidential run. While initially coy, Walz eventually admitted that he would consider running if the opportunity presented itself.

“Well, I had a friend tell me, ‘Never turn down a job you haven’t been offered,’” Walz quipped. “If I think I could offer something… I would certainly consider that. I’m also, though, not arrogant enough to believe there’s a lot of people that can do this.”

Despite the online mockery and ridicule, Walz remained pragmatic about his potential candidacy, stating that he would only pursue the presidency if he believed he had the necessary skills and qualifications for the role.

Social media critics wasted no time in poking fun at Walz’s aspirations, with many resurrecting the “Tampon Tim” nickname that was used during the 2024 election cycle to mock his policy of providing menstrual products to all students in Minnesota schools. The nickname resurfaced as conservatives joked about the prospect of a Walz presidency while simultaneously encouraging him to make his intentions official.

After the Democrats’ defeat in the 2024 election, political insiders and strategists scrutinized Harris’ choice of Walz as her running mate, with some suggesting that another candidate, such as Pennsylvania Gov. Josh Shapiro, may have been a more strategic choice.

Despite the speculation and criticism, Walz maintained that he and Harris had parted ways amicably at the end of the campaign, with limited communication between them since November 2024. He joked about their infrequent contact, attributing it to their busy schedules and geographical distance.

While Fox News Digital reached out to Walz’s office for additional comments on his potential presidential run and response to the online backlash, no immediate response was received. As the political landscape continues to evolve, only time will tell if Walz decides to throw his hat into the ring for the 2028 presidential race.
