FBI identifies suspect who assaulted federal officer at anti-ICE protests

The suspect accused of assaulting a federal officer during the anti-ICE demonstrations in Los Angeles has been identified, according to Attorney General Pam Bondi. The FBI had initially asked for the public’s help and offered a $50,000 cash reward for information leading to the man’s arrest. The suspect was accused of injuring a federal officer by throwing rocks at law enforcement vehicles.
During an appearance on “Hannity” Monday night, Bondi revealed to host Sean Hannity that the FBI had identified the suspect. She stated that the suspect, identified as Reyes, was currently undergoing a search warrant at his residence and would soon be placed on the Most Wanted list. Bondi commended the FBI for their diligent police work in identifying the suspect, emphasizing that those who assault law enforcement officers will face severe consequences.
Bondi also highlighted the federal authorities’ ability to prosecute individuals who engage in looting, throwing Molotov cocktails, and committing other crimes under the Hobbs Act. She emphasized that looters in California could face up to 20 years in prison, while individuals who spit on federal law enforcement officers could be sentenced to a maximum of five years in prison.
The suspect allegedly threw rocks at law enforcement vehicles on Alondra Blvd. in Paramount, California, resulting in injury to a federal officer and damage to government vehicles. The FBI has issued a wanted poster for the suspect, warning that he is considered armed and dangerous.
FBI Director Kash Patel reiterated the consequences for assaulting law enforcement officers, stating, “if you assault a law enforcement officer, you’re going to jail—period.” He emphasized that the FBI would take action against individuals who threaten the safety of law enforcement personnel.
In response to the violent protests in Los Angeles, federal officials have vowed to crack down on individuals who engage in criminal activities. Patel warned that the FBI would not hesitate to prosecute those who target law enforcement officers.
The incident in Los Angeles underscores the ongoing tensions between law enforcement and protesters. As authorities work to apprehend the suspect responsible for assaulting a federal officer, they are sending a clear message that violence against law enforcement will not be tolerated. The FBI’s swift action in identifying the suspect highlights the agency’s commitment to upholding the rule of law and ensuring the safety of all individuals involved in law enforcement operations.
