FBI releases new poster, photos of UnitedHealthcare CEO murder suspect
The FBI has recently released a new wanted poster for the suspect believed to be responsible for the murder of UnitedHealthCare CEO Brian Thompson. The poster includes images of the suspect inside a taxi cab and walking on a sidewalk, along with a reward offer of up to $50,000 for information leading to the suspect’s arrest.
The FBI’s New York Field Office is working closely with the New York City Police Department to identify the unknown suspect responsible for the shooting death of Thompson outside of 1335 Avenue of the Americas in Midtown Manhattan on December 4, 2024. The public is urged to contact the FBI’s toll-free tipline at 1-800-CALL-FBI or the NYPD’s toll-free tipline at 1-800-577-TIPS with any information regarding the case.
Both the NYPD and the FBI are actively investigating the murder, with the suspect last seen entering the Port Authority bus station shortly after the attack. A backpack linked to the suspect was discovered in Central Park, containing Monopoly money and a jacket. NYPD divers conducted a search of a nearby lake in Central Park for additional evidence.
Retired FBI agent Scott Duffey explained that the backpack will undergo forensic testing at a lab in Queens for trace evidence processing, including DNA analysis. The manhunt has expanded into multiple states, with the suspect potentially traveling to New Jersey, Boston, Philadelphia, or Washington, D.C.
Former homicide detective Ted Williams noted that the Monopoly money found in the backpack may be a deliberate tactic by the suspect to taunt authorities and assert control over the situation. The ongoing investigation continues to seek leads and information from the public to apprehend the suspect.
