FBI will investigate organized efforts behind anti-ICE riots in Los Angeles

The Federal Bureau of Investigation has announced that they will be investigating any organized effort to create chaos in Los Angeles following anti-ICE riots over the weekend. Laura Eimiller, media coordinator for the FBI’s Los Angeles Field Office, stated that they are prepared to prosecute anyone who crosses the line from first-amendment protected activity to violence and are particularly focused on those who assault federal officers or cause damage to government property.
The riots in Los Angeles have resulted in dozens of arrests, with cars being burned and tensions escalating between rioters and law enforcement. President Donald Trump has deployed National Guard troops to address the unrest, a move that the state of California is challenging in court. Democratic leaders argue that the presence of the National Guard is only exacerbating the situation.
There are reports indicating that groups like Antifa may be involved in the riots, prompting Rep. Anna Paulina Luna to announce that she will introduce legislation to designate Antifa as a terrorist organization. California Attorney General Rob Bonta has also acknowledged that “outside folks” may be infiltrating the protests to incite violence.
While many of the protests are non-violent, they are organized by left-wing groups such as the Service Employees International Union, the Coalition for Humane Immigrant Rights of Los Angeles, and the Party for Socialism and Liberation. The SEIU has been particularly vocal in organizing anti-ICE rallies following the arrest of their California president, David Huerta.
The SEIU has demanded Huerta’s release and criticized ICE for their tactics, stating that they have no place in their communities. The group had plans to support candidates across the country in 2024, including Vice President Kamala Harris in her presidential bid.
It has been reported that CHIRLA won grants from the Biden-era Department of Homeland Security, but some of the funding was scrapped by the Trump administration. The PSL, on the other hand, has ties to the Chinese Communist Party due to its backing from tech billionaire Neville Singham.
Fox News Digital has reached out to the SEIU, the PSL, and CHIRLA for comment on the situation in Los Angeles. The FBI will continue to investigate any criminal activity related to the riots and is committed to holding those responsible accountable.
