Federal prosecutor puts potential DOGE sabotage on notice with threat of ‘any and all legal action’

Newly-appointed interim U.S. Attorney for the District of Columbia Ed Martin has made it clear that he will not tolerate any attempts to sabotage the efforts of the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) to clean up overspending and corruption within the federal government. In a letter addressed to Elon Musk, Martin vowed to hold accountable anyone who tries to impede the work of DOGE and its employees.

“I recognize that some of the staff at DOGE have been targeted publicly,” Martin wrote in his letter, which he posted to his X account on Monday. “At this time, I ask that you utilize me and my staff to assist in protecting the DOGE work and the DOGE workers. Any threats, confrontations or other actions that impact their work may break numerous laws.”

Martin went on to assure Musk that legal action will be taken against anyone who interferes with the work of DOGE or threatens its employees. He emphasized that his office will not turn a blind eye, as the previous administration did, to those who seek to undermine the efforts of government agencies.

Prior to his appointment as interim U.S. Attorney, Martin worked as a defense attorney, including representing individuals charged in connection with the January 6 protests at the U.S. Capitol. He has a track record of standing up for justice and holding wrongdoers accountable.

The letter from Martin comes at a time when Musk is leading the charge to overhaul government agencies like the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) to eliminate corruption and wasteful spending. Reports have surfaced that Musk’s DOGE team, which includes a group of young engineers, has faced backlash and threats online.

In response to these attacks, Martin has pledged to work closely with DOGE to ensure the safety of its employees and protect the American people’s interests. He urged Musk to report any questionable conduct or details that may pose a threat to the agency’s mission.

Meanwhile, USAID’s fate hangs in the balance as Musk continues his crusade against the agency, which he has described as a “viper’s nest of radical-left marxists who hate America.” Secretary of State Marco Rubio has stepped in as acting director of USAID, emphasizing the need for the agency to align with Trump’s “America First” agenda.

Musk has announced plans to shut down USAID, with Trump reportedly supporting the move. The agency’s headquarters in Washington, D.C., was closed on Monday, and hundreds of employees reported being locked out of its computer system.

As the government works to root out corruption and inefficiency, Martin’s commitment to upholding the rule of law and protecting government workers is crucial. His collaboration with DOGE and Musk signals a united front against those who seek to undermine the integrity of our government.
