Top Republican touts ‘real motivation’ behind House DOGE Caucus’ mission before first meeting

Rep. Blake Moore, R-Utah, the co-chair of the House of Representatives’ Congressional DOGE Caucus, expressed his strong commitment to the mission of cutting the federal deficit, emphasizing that there is “real motivation” behind accomplishing this goal. Moore, who is also the House GOP Conference vice chair and the No. 6 House Republican, recently joined Reps. Aaron Bean, R-Fla., and Pete Sessions, R-Texas, in leading the caucus.
The DOGE Caucus, which stands for Delivering Outstanding Government Efficiency, is aligned with the Department of Government Efficiency, or DOGE for short, a new advisory panel commissioned by President-elect Trump and led by Elon Musk and Vivek Ramaswamy. The caucus’s first meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, with Moore expressing his hope to “create some structure on what we want to accomplish and set some initial first easy wins.”
Moore did not provide details on what these initial wins would entail, but he indicated that one of the caucus’s primary objectives is to deliver recommendations to Musk and Ramaswamy on how to enhance the efficiency of the federal government. He highlighted the wealth of ideas within the caucus members from various committees, emphasizing the importance of compiling these suggestions and eventually providing recommendations.
As a member of the House leadership, Moore believes that he can serve as a bridge between the caucus and other congressional leaders. He expressed his enthusiasm for joining the leadership team and underscored the bipartisan efforts that have laid the groundwork for the caucus’s work. Moore emphasized the unique level of interest and engagement surrounding the DOGE Caucus, noting that it has garnered significant attention from both the media and constituents.
Despite concerns that the internet meme-inspired branding of DOGE might diminish its seriousness, Moore argued that it actually serves to stimulate enthusiasm among Americans for the mission. The term “Doge” is derived from an internet meme featuring a Shiba Inu dog and phrases in broken English representing the dog’s thoughts. Musk, who has publicly embraced the meme, even coined the name “Department of Government Efficiency” while referencing it on social media platforms.
Moore highlighted the widespread excitement generated by the DOGE Caucus, attributing it to the relatable and engaging nature of the meme-inspired branding. He emphasized the importance of using unconventional methods to capture people’s attention and drive positive impact. Moore expressed his optimism about the potential for the DOGE Caucus to make a meaningful difference in addressing the federal deficit.
In conclusion, Rep. Blake Moore’s leadership in the DOGE Caucus reflects a strong commitment to enhancing government efficiency and reducing the federal deficit. With a focus on collaboration, innovation, and bipartisan cooperation, the caucus aims to deliver tangible recommendations to streamline government operations. By leveraging the unique branding and widespread interest surrounding the DOGE Caucus, Moore and his colleagues are poised to make a significant impact in advancing their mission.
