FEMA official removed from role for directing hurricane relief away from Trump supporters’ homes
A FEMA official who instructed Hurricane Milton relief workers to skip homes with Trump signs has been removed from her role, a FEMA spokesperson confirmed. The incident occurred in Lake Placid, Florida, where workers were told to avoid homes advertising Trump while determining which residents could qualify for federal aid.
According to internal messages obtained by the Daily Wire, at least 20 homes with Trump signs or flags were bypassed by the workers from late October into November. Messages such as “Trump sign no entry per leadership” were recorded in a government system, indicating that the homes were deliberately skipped over.
The FEMA spokesperson expressed deep concern over the employee’s actions, calling it an isolated incident. They emphasized that FEMA assists all survivors regardless of their political affiliation and stated that measures have been taken to prevent such incidents from happening in the future. The agency has helped over 365,000 households impacted by Hurricanes Helene and Milton, providing nearly $900 million in direct assistance to survivors.
Florida Governor Ron DeSantis condemned the official’s actions and announced an investigation into FEMA over the controversy. He criticized the “partisan activists” within the federal bureaucracy and expressed optimism that they would be held accountable under the new administration. The House Oversight Committee and Rep. James Comer also criticized FEMA for not firing the official responsible for the discriminatory actions.
Former President Donald Trump’s son, Donald Trump Jr., called for a full investigation into the matter, labeling it as outrageous and demanding the removal of those involved from FEMA and government positions. The incident has raised concerns about political bias within federal agencies and the need for accountability and transparency in government operations.
As the investigation unfolds, it is essential to ensure that all individuals affected by Hurricane Milton receive the necessary assistance and support regardless of their political beliefs. The integrity of FEMA’s relief efforts must be upheld to serve the best interests of all disaster survivors.
