Female Canadian Athletes Face Setback in New Genetic Tests

Female Canadian athletes have recently undergone new genetic tests that do not meet the requirements of World Athletics, jeopardizing their participation in the upcoming World Championships. The tests, commissioned by Athletics Canada and conducted by Dynacare, were meant to help determine biological sex at the national championships.

However, athletes were informed via email that the test kits provided by Dynacare did not meet the necessary standards. As a result, these athletes now face a race against time to complete new tests before the September 1 deadline set by World Athletics.

French Athletes Struggle with Testing Regulations

French athletes are also facing challenges with testing regulations in their country. The French Athletics Federation (FFA) had planned to conduct tests at the national championships, but was prohibited from doing so under French Bio-ethical legislation dating back to 1994.

In response, World Athletics is working with the FFA to help French athletes complete tests at international meetings or training camps outside of France.
