Figure skaters Stellato-Dudek, Deschamps lead Canada into Grand Prix final

Reigning pairs world champions Deanna Stellato-Dudek and Maxime Deschamps are set to lead Canada’s team at the upcoming ISU Grand Prix of Figure Skating Final in Grenoble, France from December 5-8. Stellato-Dudek, hailing from Chicago but representing Canada, and Deschamps from Vaudreuil-Dorion, Que., head into the event as the top-ranked pairs team after securing victories at both Skate Canada International and the Finlandia Cup earlier this season.

The dynamic duo, who clinched the bronze medal at last year’s Grand Prix final, are eager to showcase their skills on the international stage once again. With their impressive performances and strong chemistry on the ice, Stellato-Dudek and Deschamps have solidified themselves as a formidable pair in the world of figure skating.

Joining them at the prestigious event are ice dancers Piper Gilles of Toronto and Paul Poirier of Unionville, Ont., who are making a return to the final after finishing third in 2023. Gilles and Poirier claimed gold at Skate Canada and silver at the Finlandia Cup, demonstrating their prowess and artistry on the ice. They will be accompanied by Marjorie Lajoie of Boucherville, Que., and Zachary Lagha of St-Hubert, Que., who secured silver medals at both Skate Canada and the Cup of China.

In the junior competition, Jazmine Desrochers from Mississauga, Ont., and Kieran Thrasher from Amherstburg, Ont., will be competing in ice dance, while Julia Quattrochi from Laval, Que., and Simon Desmarais from Carignan, Que., will be showcasing their skills in pairs. These young talents are looking to make a mark in the world of figure skating and continue Canada’s strong tradition of excellence in the sport.
