Florida man allegedly attempted to ‘club’ wife before stabbing himself on Christmas Day

A Christmas Day tragedy unfolded in Florida as Jonathan McPhee, a 78-year-old man, was arrested for allegedly attempting to kill his wife in a murder-suicide. The incident took place at the couple’s home on Pine Cone Way, where McPhee reportedly attacked his wife before calling 911.

According to police reports, McPhee confessed to the dispatcher that he had “clubbed” his wife and planned to stab himself in the heart. When officers from the Largo Police Department arrived at the scene, they found both McPhee and his wife in critical condition. McPhee had stabbed himself, while his wife had suffered blunt-force trauma.

While receiving medical treatment, McPhee reportedly told medical staff to let him die as he believed he had killed his wife. Additionally, he sent a text to his wife’s daughter confessing to the crime and expressing his intentions to end his own life due to financial and health issues. He even outlined his wishes for funeral arrangements and handling of life insurance.

The couple was rushed to a local hospital for treatment, and the investigation into the incident is ongoing. As of now, no further details have been released to the public.
