Florida woman allegedly attacked man with gardening tool after he canceled plans

A Florida woman, Melanie Davis, found herself in trouble with the law after allegedly attacking a man with a garden hoe for canceling plans with her. The incident took place in Frostproof, Florida, where Davis had arranged to “hang out” with a man who later decided to cancel on her.

According to the Polk County Sheriff’s Office, Davis was not pleased with the man’s decision and showed up at his home around 3 a.m. to confront him. She began yelling at him from outside and eventually climbed over a fence to gain access to his property. Once inside, she started physically assaulting him, punching him repeatedly before grabbing a garden hoe and striking him with it, causing a serious cut on his arm.

The man was promptly taken to the hospital for treatment, while Davis was arrested and taken into custody. She now faces charges of armed burglary with battery, aggravated battery with a deadly weapon, simple battery, and criminal mischief.

This is not the first time Davis has had a run-in with the law. Dating back to 1997, when she was just 19 years old, she has had numerous encounters with the Polk County Sheriff’s Office. In fact, she has been arrested in Polk County a total of 27 times prior to this incident, with charges ranging from petty theft to battery causing serious injury. Her most recent arrest before this incident was in March 2024 when she was charged with domestic violence against a person over the age of 65.

It is clear that Davis has a history of violent behavior, and this latest incident only adds to her troubled past. It serves as a reminder of the importance of managing emotions in a healthy way and seeking help when needed to prevent such outbursts of violence. Let this be a cautionary tale for others to think twice before resorting to such extreme measures in moments of anger or disappointment.
