Former President Joe Biden joked he could take on authors of new books questioning him in Oval Office

Former President Joe Biden made light of recent allegations questioning his mental faculties on Friday, joking that he could take on those who doubted his abilities. This lighthearted response came in the wake of the release of several books detailing his alleged mental deterioration while in office, including the book titled \”Original Sin: President Biden’s Decline, Its Cover-up, and His Disastrous Choice to Run Again.\”

During a Memorial Day event, Biden quipped with reporters, saying, \”You can see that I’m mentally incompetent, I can’t walk. And I could beat the hell out of both of them.\” It appeared that he was referencing the book’s authors, Jake Tapper of CNN and Alex Thompson of Axios.

The book claims that Biden struggled with coherent speech for campaign ad videos, had scripted Cabinet meetings, and that his team allegedly plotted a cover-up to hide the extent of his mental decline. However, Biden’s team has strongly denied these allegations, stating that the book failed to provide evidence of any wrongdoing on Biden’s part.

In addition to these accusations, leaked audio recordings of Biden’s October 2023 interview with former Special Counsel Robert Hur were released in May, further fueling speculation about his mental acuity. Despite these challenges, Biden revealed on May 18 that he had been diagnosed with an aggressive form of prostate cancer, which he is currently undergoing treatment for.

During the Memorial Day event, Biden expressed optimism about his diagnosis and treatment, stating, \”My expectation is we’re going to be able to beat this.\” He also took the opportunity to honor service members who had lost their lives, emphasizing the debt owed to the American military.

Biden highlighted the sacrifices made by the military, veterans, military families, and Gold Star families, acknowledging that only 1% of Americans defend the remaining 99%. He emphasized the importance of honoring and supporting those who risk their lives to protect the nation.

As Biden navigates his health challenges and addresses criticisms of his mental faculties, he remains committed to serving the country with empathy and skill. His determination to overcome his diagnosis and continue his public service reflects his resilience and dedication to the American people.
