Frantic 911 call captures moments after North Carolina sledding accident

A tragic incident unfolded in Whitsett, North Carolina, as a family’s day of fun in the snow turned into a nightmare when their toddler son, Ayden Sasser, met with a fatal sledding accident. The Guilford County Sheriff’s Office reported that Ayden was playing outside when his sled veered into a nearby pond, trapping him under the ice. The desperate situation was captured in harrowing 911 calls, with witnesses frantically trying to rescue the young boy.

Despite the valiant efforts of two individuals who jumped into the icy water to save Ayden, he was later pronounced dead at a local hospital. Following the tragic incident, two first responders and three other individuals involved in the rescue operation were also taken to the hospital for evaluation and later discharged.
