‘Fulfill the mandate’: New election integrity report calls for critical changes to guarantee secure elections

The Honest Elections Project (HEP) has recently released its 2025 “Safeguarding Our Elections” report, outlining a series of critical reforms that are necessary to ensure election integrity across the United States. The nonpartisan watchdog group has highlighted over a dozen key measures that need to be implemented, ranging from voter ID requirements to cleaning up voter rolls to banning foreign influence in elections.

HEP Executive Director Jason Snead emphasized the importance of these reforms, stating that lawmakers have a responsibility to address the concerns of the American people and make it easy to vote while ensuring the integrity of the electoral process. The report serves as a roadmap for legislators to follow in order to achieve this goal.

One of the main focuses of the report is the issue of foreign influence in elections. HEP has been actively advocating against foreign funding in statewide elections, citing polling data that shows 78% of Americans oppose foreign involvement in the electoral process. The report highlights a legal loophole that allows foreign nationals to contribute to ballot measure campaigns, potentially undermining the integrity of the election process.

The report also raises concerns about Ranked Choice Voting (RCV), which some states have banned due to its complexity and potential to undermine trust in election results. Despite efforts by left-wing donors to promote RCV in several states, voters have rejected these measures in states like Arizona, Colorado, and Nevada.

Another issue addressed in the report is the use of “Zuck Bucks,” referring to the $400 million in grants provided by Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg during the 2020 election. The report calls for greater accountability in the electoral process and urges states to prevent similar instances of outside funding from influencing elections.

In addition to these key issues, the report emphasizes the need for transparency and robust post-election audits, ensuring that elected lawmakers are responsible for writing election laws, and protecting vulnerable mail-in ballots. By addressing these critical reforms, HEP aims to safeguard the integrity of the electoral process and restore public trust in the voting system.
