Future of Sport in Canada Commission to hold cross-country hearings in 9 cities
The Future of Sport in Canada Commission has announced dates and locations for its cross-country consultations.
The commission’s mandate is to learn from Canadians, including victims and survivors of abuse and maltreatment, about their experience in and with sport.
The first of nine commission hearings will be Oct. 31 to Nov. 1 in Toronto and the last Dec. 10-13 in Halifax.
There will be other stops in Regina, Quebec City, Montreal, Winnipeg, Calgary, Victoria and Vancouver.
Federal sports minister Carla Qualtrough announced the commission late last year but stopped short of a public inquiry that some in the sports community demanded.
The commission will be led by Lise Maisonneuve, who is a former chief justice of the Ontario Court of Justice.
