Gazans speak out on President Trump’s relocation plan

Amidst the ongoing conflict and humanitarian crisis in Gaza, some Palestinians have expressed their desire to leave the Hamas-ruled enclave. As Egypt reportedly rejects President Trump’s resettlement proposal, citing the need to protect the Palestinian cause and national security, voices from war-torn Gaza are calling for a way out.

Many Gazans are desperate to escape the dire conditions in Gaza and support President Trump’s proposal to turn Gaza into a “Riviera of the Middle East” after relocating its more than 2 million residents. However, it remains uncertain if they would be allowed to return. Despite the uncertainty, Gazans are eager to leave if the borders were to open.

One 29-year-old man from Nuseirat Camp in northern Gaza expressed his frustration, stating that he would rather leave and gain 10 years of life than continue living in tents. He highlighted the lack of progress and deteriorating living conditions under Hamas rule, pushing many Gazans to seek a way out.

Egypt, which is leading the reconstruction efforts in Gaza, has kept the Rafah crossing closed and refuses to accept Palestinian refugees, further restricting the movement of Gazans. Hamas continues to exert military control and instill fear among the civilian population, making life unbearable for many.

The devastation caused by past wars, coupled with the lack of basic services and infrastructure, has left many Gazans feeling trapped and hopeless. Some residents have voiced their support for Trump’s proposal, despite the risks of speaking out against Hamas. They believe that leaving Gaza would offer them a chance at a better life free from war and destruction.
