George Springer will be in the Line -up of the Buffalo Bisons on Thursday as the designated batter of the team.
The 35-year-old Outfielder was sent by the Blue Jays on Wednesday as part of a Triple-A-rehabilitation assignment that will probably see him start in the Outfield on Friday and possibly come back to the Major League club during the weekend.
Springer was in the middle of his best season, because in 2021 he signed as a free agent at Toronto when he was hit by Baltimore Reliever Kade Stroud on 28 July.
Whether it is a new contact or building a competition, Shapiro focuses on the task that is obvious
It was hoped that Springer would be back earlier, but until recently he still had to deal with vision problems due to the concussion.
Before he was injured, he had a stroke average of .291 with 18 home runs, 57 beaten runs and 12 stolen bases.
Manoah is struggling in rehabilitation Start
Alek Manoah made his first Rehab start on Wednesday afternoon in Buffalo and it was not going well.
The 27-year-old gave up three earned points in 1 2/3 innings in the 9-4 loss of the bisons for the Iron Pigs of Lehigh Valley. Manoah, who finished third in 2022 in the Cy Young of Cy Young of the American League, allowed two hits, ran three and slammed one batter.
He has not played a full season in the big competitions since 2022 and tries to recover from elbow surgery that was done last year. He threw 49 throws with 27 strikes.
“Walks left his pitch cells,” said Blue Jays manager John Schneider before the evening match against the Chicago Cubs in Rogers Center. “He needs more strikes.”
Manoah went back to Toronto afterwards and will meet staff on Thursday. The right -handed struggled with wildness in attempted return to the major competitions.
Jays introduce first round Pick Parker in the media
Jojo Parker, the selection of the first round of the Blue Jays in this year’s design, was introduced to journalists on Wednesday during a video call of the training facility of the team in Dunedin, FLA.
Parker, 19, is a short stop from Mississippi, where he played for Purvis High School. He was selected by Toronto with the eighth pick and registered with the Blue Jays with a bonus of US $ 6.2 million.
Schneider said he still had to talk to Parker, but expected him to travel to Toronto within a few weeks.
“I have heard nothing but great things about him,” said Schneider. “Everyone I know in the amateur world was enthusiastic about him.”
Good teams are very lucky
Schneider joked that he decided not to pay Ernie Clement for missing a bump sign during Tuesday’s 5-1 victory over Chicago. Clement eventually hit a three-run Homer on the field.
“I would have given him a fine if he popped up or hit a doubles,” said Schneider.
