Georgia family paving company attacked rivals in ‘Sopranos’-style turf war: cops

Six Georgia men who work for the same family paving company are facing charges after allegedly instigating a brawl with a competitor paving company on Dec. 19. The incident, which unfolded like a scene from ‘The Sopranos,’ according to Monroe County Sheriff Brad Freeman, involved members of the Buckland family confronting employees of EH Paving while they were working on a driveway in Bolingbroke.
The victims, who were working for EH Paving, were caught off guard when several trucks pulled up to the location and six members of the Buckland family emerged with baseball bats, sticks, and other weapons, as per an incident report obtained by Fox News Digital. Deputies were called to the scene after reports of a large fight involving weapons.
According to the report, the owner of EH Paving claimed that Mark William Buckland Sr., 50, attempted to strike his son with a bat, while Willy Buckland Jr., 22, and James Small, Buckland Sr.’s 21-year-old son-in-law, attacked another one of his sons. Luke Buckland, 28, was accused of attacking a nephew. The EH Paving owner speculated that the altercation stemmed from the Buckland family’s belief that their paving job near one of their properties was disrespectful.
Mark Buckland Sr. was reported to have carried a gun and aimed it at the EH Paving owner during the confrontation. Additionally, a member of EH Paving allegedly fired a gun into a wooded area in an attempt to diffuse the situation.
In the aftermath of the incident, Mark William Buckland Sr. faces charges of tampering with evidence, pointing a gun at another person, and criminal trespass. Luke James Buckland is charged with simple battery, while Mark Judy Buckland is facing charges of simple battery, inciting to rioting, and criminal trespass. James Small is charged with criminal trespass and simple battery, Willy Jack Buckland Jr. is facing charges of criminal trespass and simple battery, and Willy Jack Buckland Sr. is charged with criminal trespass and aggravated assault.
Despite the serious nature of the charges, all six men have been released as of Monday morning. The incident serves as a reminder of the potential dangers that can arise in competitive industries and the importance of resolving conflicts peacefully.
