Girl seriously injured after being hit by a van while crossing the street in Halifax
HALIFAX – A child is in hospital with serious injuries after being hit by a van while crossing the street in Halifax.
Police were alerted shortly before 7 p.m. Wednesday at the intersection of Gottingen and Uniacke streets to reports of a pedestrian being hit by a vehicle.
According to authorities, a girl was in the zebra crossing on Gottingen Street when she was hit by a van.
Police say the child was rushed to hospital in critical condition, while the 35-year-old female driver was not injured.
Members of the Patrol, Accident Investigation Section and Forensic Identification Section have taken over the case and it is unknown if any charges are pending.
Anyone with information about the collision is asked to contact police.
