Pamela Anderson Receives First Golden Globe Nomination
Pamela Anderson, originally from British Columbia, has been nominated for her first Golden Globe award for best actress in a drama. The nomination comes for her role in the film “The Last Showgirl” where she portrays a seasoned Vegas performer facing a new chapter in her life after her long-running show comes to an abrupt end.
The Canadian talent doesn’t stop there, as Vancouver’s Gabriel LaBelle also received his first nomination for best actor in a motion picture comedy for his portrayal of Lorne Michaels in Jason Reitman’s “Saturday Night.” Additionally, Martin Short, born in Hamilton, earned his fourth nomination for his role as a theatre director in “Only Murders in the Building.”
Quebec filmmaker Denis Villeneuve is in the running for best motion picture – drama for his sci-fi sequel “Dune: Part Two.” Vancouver’s Ryan Reynolds and Montreal’s Shawn Levy are also nominated for their collaborative work on the Marvel film “Deadpool & Wolverine” in the cinematic and box office achievement category.
Toronto screenwriter Graham Yost is recognized for his contribution to the spy thriller series “Slow Horses,” nominated for best TV drama. The anticipation for the 82nd Golden Globes, set to take place on Jan. 5, 2025, is building as these talented Canadians vie for recognition in their respective categories.
