An Unconventional Wedding: Good Robot Brewing’s ‘My Big Fat Dog Wedding’

More and more couples are including their furry companions in their wedding ceremonies, whether as the best man or carrying the rings down the aisle. However, Good Robot Brewing is taking dog weddings to a whole new level.

On September 20, the renowned Halifax Brewery is hosting ‘My Big Fat Dog Wedding’, a whimsical event celebrating the union of two happy pups.

Described as “curators of quirky beer experiences for our communities,” Good Robot Brewing is known for its unique events that bring people together in laughter and camaraderie.

“Before Covid, Good Robot was known for hosting eccentric events that brought joy and unity to the community, from Crop Top Tolerance Day to puppet shows featuring former Jim Henson crew members,” said Joshua Counsil, co-founder of Good Robot Brewing. “While Covid may have put a pause on our events, we are back and more ridiculous than ever. Life can be overwhelming, so let’s enjoy some beer, witness dog weddings, and keep the fun alive.”

Residents of Halifax can enter an online competition to have their dogs participate in the wedding ceremony. The competition closes on September 5, and the public will select the lucky canine couple.

“The winning pair will exchange vows during the event, receive prizes, and bask in eternal puppy love,” as stated in a press release.

The wedding will be followed by a reception featuring local vendors, dog-friendly treats, games, and of course, beer.

Tickets are priced at $10, with half of the proceeds being donated to Fly With Me Animal Rescue.
