VANCOUVER – Nick Arbuckle Leads Toronto Argonauts to Grey Cup Victory

In a thrilling Grey Cup showdown, Nick Arbuckle made his first start count by guiding the Toronto Argonauts to a resounding 41-24 win over the Winnipeg Blue Bombers. Arbuckle stepped in for the injured Chad Kelly and delivered a stellar performance, throwing two touchdown passes to secure the victory.

The victory marked Toronto’s 19th Grey Cup title, solidifying their status as the most successful team in CFL history. The Argos have now won the championship in their last eight appearances, dating back to 1991, and boast a perfect 9-0 record against Winnipeg in the big game.

Despite making their fifth consecutive Grey Cup appearance, Winnipeg suffered their third straight loss in the championship game. Toronto’s defense played a crucial role in the victory, registering three interceptions in the fourth quarter and returning them for a combined 164 yards, setting a Grey Cup record. The Argos also tied the game record with four interceptions in total.

The turning point came in the fourth quarter when Lirim Hajrullahu’s field goal, coupled with key interceptions and a touchdown, propelled Toronto to a commanding lead over Winnipeg. Arbuckle’s connection with Dejon Brissett and Robert Priester’s pick-six sealed the victory for the Argos.

Arbuckle finished the game with 26 completions on 37 attempts for 252 yards and two touchdowns, showcasing his poise and leadership on the biggest stage. On the other side, Winnipeg’s Zach Collaros struggled, throwing four interceptions and failing to spark his team’s offense.

In a special pre-game moment, Prince Harry made a surprise appearance at BC Place Stadium, receiving a warm reception from the spirited crowd. The Duke of Sussex was there to promote the upcoming Invictus Games, which will be held in Vancouver and Whistler from February 8-16.
