Guns, drugs and cash uncovered in Halifax bust, two arrested
HALIFAX, N.S. — A man and a woman are facing two dozen combined charges after a search turned up weapons, drugs and cash at a Fairview home in Halifax on Friday morning.
Acting on an ongoing investigation, Halifax Regional Police searched a Kingsmere Court residence at about 5 a.m., finding loaded firearms, over 400 grams of cocaine, 2,000 opioid pills, and roughly $17,000.
Two people were arrested at the scene — Jordon Lawrence David Cooper, 32, who was to appear in court Monday,, and Kaitlyn Jean Burns, 29, who is scheduled for a later date.
Cooper and Burns have both been charged with:
- Two counts of possession of a firearm or restricted weapon obtained by crime
- Possession of a loaded prohibited or restricted firearm
- Possession of a prohibited or restricted weapon or ammunition without a licence
- Two counts of possession of a firearm without a licence or certificate
- Unauthorized possession of a firearm
- Two counts of possession of a firearm knowing its unauthorized
- Two counts of possession of a weapon dangerous to public peace
- Two counts of storing a firearm or restricted weapon contrary to regulations
- Unsafe storage of a firearm
- Tampering with the serial number on a firearm
- Three counts of possession for the purpose of trafficking
- Possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000
Cooper is also charged with four counts of possessing a firearm contrary to a court order and possessing a prohibited or restricted weapon or ammunition without a licence.
