Halifax-area recreation farm asks neighbours to hold off on fireworks

As Canada Day approaches, a well-known recreation farm in Halifax is urging residents to refrain from setting off loud fireworks due to the distress it causes their animals. Hatfield Farm recently took to social media to address the issue, citing instances where fireworks caused their horses to panic and stampede.

Owner Brian Hatfield expressed concern over the safety of both the animals and the public, stating that the horses could potentially harm someone if they were to escape onto the nearby road. He recounted the harrowing experience of having to chase down the panicked horses in an effort to calm them down, emphasizing the potential dangers involved.

While Hatfield acknowledges that he cannot completely prevent individuals from using fireworks, he is urging those in the vicinity to notify the farm in advance so that necessary precautions can be taken.
