Halifax changes parks and recreation registration platform

The Halifax Municipality Introduces New Online Registration Platform for Recreation Programs

With the summer season fast approaching, the Halifax municipality is making it easier for residents to register for recreation programs and services through a new online platform. The announcement was made on Tuesday, revealing that the new system will be used for summer camp registration starting on April 14.

Greg MacIsaac, manager of business services for parks and recreation, expressed excitement about the transition to the new platform, noting that it is “more user-friendly and easier to navigate.” The system will allow users to search for programs and activities based on facility, community, and recreation type, among other categories.

As of now, users can access both the old and new systems on the municipality’s recreation program website. While the new system won’t be fully operational until April 1, residents can begin creating new usernames and passwords to prepare for the switch.

According to the new platform site, residents without an active facility membership will need to create a new user profile, while those with an active membership must set up a new password and link their payment information for online transactions.

With the old system still available for spring activity registration until June 30, residents are encouraged to familiarize themselves with the new platform and make the necessary preparations for a seamless transition.
