Halloween forecast more treat than trick with mild temperatures for the Maritimes

When it comes to the weather, trick-or-treaters have experienced pretty much everything here in the Maritimes.

From snow and cold temperatures, to rain and gusty winds, mother nature is capable of bringing a wide variety of weather to kids and parents heading door to door.

This year, however, the forecast will indeed be more treat than trick.

In fact, temperatures on Thursday will be near record-breaking as we soar into the mid-high teens. We’ll likely see a few backyards reach 20 C in western Nova Scotia and southern New Brunswick.

We may even break a few long-standing daily records for places like Fredericton and Moncton, N.B. While we likely won’t break records everywhere, this Halloween will certainly be one of the warmest in recent memory.  

For the all-important evening trick-or-treat forecast, temperatures will remain very mild. By the time kids are out ringing doorbells, temperatures will still be in the low-mid teens for most, with some high teens still in place for southern New Brunswick. 

While temperatures will cool down after sunset, many will see double digits right into the 9 p.m. hour across the Maritimes.

Winds will be light and the skies will be partly cloudy for most of the region, with the exception of a chance of showers over northern New Brunswick where temperatures will be a bit cooler.

With conditions looking so favourable, kids may want to stay out a little longer, so keep that in mind when forecasting whether you have enough candy.

Temperatures will remain warm for Friday, before a cold front on Friday night brings us back to reality with mid single-digit highs for the weekend.
