US Election 2024

Harris campaign says portion of donations to go to recount account

The Harris-Walz campaign is gearing up for a potential recount effort by directing a portion of donations to a fundraising committee associated with their campaign. Those looking to donate on ActBlue, a nonprofit fundraising platform, will be warned in fine print that their contribution could go towards funding a recount.

The push to bolster the “recount account” comes as the Harris campaign faces a reported $20 million debt. Donations made to the Harris Victory Fund, part of a joint fundraising committee authorized by the Harris campaign, the Democratic National Committee, and state Democratic parties, will be allocated accordingly.

Vice President Harris recently conceded her election loss to President-elect Trump after a decisive victory where he swept all battleground states as well as the popular vote. The Harris-Walz campaign reportedly spent $1 billion during their unsuccessful run.

With several key Senate and House races still undecided, the campaign is keeping organizers and volunteers in those states to ensure a strong finish. The campaign’s website urges supporters to donate to the Harris Fight Fund to elect Democrats down the ticket and hold the Trump administration accountable.

Former President Trump recently called for donations to help Harris pay off her campaign debts, emphasizing the importance of unity within the party. Despite a record amount of fundraising during the 2020 Presidential Election, Democrats are facing financial challenges post-election.

Fox News Digital has reached out to the Harris campaign and ActBlue for comments on the fundraising efforts and potential recount. Stay tuned for updates on this developing story.
