Weather Warnings Issued for Nova Scotia by Environment Canada

Environment Canada has issued weather warnings for parts of Nova Scotia, including Halifax, Malay Falls, Lunenburg, and Cape Breton.

Throughout the day, Nova Scotia has been experiencing wet and windy weather, leading to power outages across the province and delayed ferry crossings.

Due to localized flooding, Elections Nova Scotia had to close a polling station in Sydney, while another was closed in Donkin when the power went out.

Halifax Transit has temporarily halted ferry service and will be providing shuttles instead. Additionally, the Halifax Regional Municipality announced the postponement of its annual tree lighting ceremony scheduled for Saturday night due to the inclement weather.

Police in Halifax blocked off part of North Street after panels from an apartment building under construction on Clifton Street were blown off, leading to evacuations of nearby businesses.

According to Environment Canada, strong winds in Cape Breton are expected to persist until tonight, with maximum wind gusts reaching 90 km/h. On the mainland, Nova Scotia will see additional rainfall of 5 to 10 millimetres tonight, along with winds gusting from 40 to 70 km/h overnight.

Stay safe and heed all weather warnings and advisories issued by Environment Canada to ensure your safety during this inclement weather.
