Switzerland’s Silvana Tirinzoni Wins Women’s Curling Final at AMJ Players’ Championship
Canada’s Rachel Homan faced a tough defeat in the women’s curling final of the AMJ Players’ Championship on Sunday, falling 5-4 to Switzerland’s Silvana Tirinzoni.
The game started off slow with a scoreless first two ends, but Tirinzoni managed to take the lead by scoring in the third and fourth ends, putting her team ahead 2-0.
Despite Homan’s Ottawa-based rink managing to trim the deficit in the fifth end, the Swiss team extended their lead to 4-1 in the sixth end.
However, Homan and her team didn’t give up. They fought back by scoring three points in the seventh end, forcing a deciding eighth end to determine the winner.
In the final end, Tirinzoni’s rink managed to score the winning point, securing their victory in the championship.
As the women’s final came to a close, fans eagerly awaited the men’s final between Switzerland’s Yannick Schwaller and Scotland’s Bruce Mouat, set to take place later in the day at the Mattamy Athletic Centre.
