Homeland Security moves to speed up deportations

The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has announced a plan to revamp the Systematic Alien Verification for Entitlements (SAVE) program, an online database used by law enforcement to determine the noncitizen status of individuals in the U.S. This move comes as part of an effort to combat entitlement and voter fraud by non-citizens.

Exclusive details shared with Fox News Digital reveal that the updated SAVE program will include eliminating fees for database searches, streamlining mass immigration status checks, integrating criminal records, and creating a more user-friendly interface. These changes aim to prevent non-citizens from exploiting taxpayer benefits and voting illegally.

Established in 1987, the SAVE program allows local law enforcement officials and government agencies to input biographic information and noncitizen documentation such as I-94 numbers, SEVIS IDs, or Alien numbers to access immigration information on related individuals.

According to a DHS spokesperson, “Illegal aliens have exploited outdated systems to defraud Americans and taint our elections. This revamped SAVE system ensures government officials can swiftly verify statuses, halting entitlement and voter fraud.” The DHS will collaborate with the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) and the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) to enhance the program’s effectiveness and update it accordingly.

The decision to overhaul the SAVE program follows clashes between the Trump administration and federal judges over mass deportations. Most recently, the Supreme Court intervened to halt the administration’s removal of Venezuelan migrants under the 18th-century Alien Enemies Act. The court’s ruling specified that Venezuelan migrants held in a Texas detention center should not be removed “until further order of this court.”

Justice Samuel Alito, who provided a dissenting opinion on the decision, criticized the Court for issuing what he deemed as “unprecedented and legally questionable relief” without giving lower courts a chance to rule or hearing from the opposing party.

Migrant encounters at the borders have seen a significant decrease under President Donald Trump’s administration, with a focus on enforcing immigration laws and preventing illegal entry into the country.

The revamped SAVE program reflects the government’s commitment to ensuring the integrity of immigration processes and preventing fraud. By modernizing the database and enhancing verification processes, DHS aims to uphold the rule of law and protect the rights of American citizens.
