House Dem Green’s GOP challenger dishes on campaign after outburst during Trump speech

Deddrick Wilmer is taking on incumbent Democratic Congressman Al Green in Texas’ 9th Congressional District, and he recently spoke exclusively to Fox News Digital about his decision to run and his priorities if elected. Wilmer, a self-described “compassionate conservative” Republican, emphasized his focus on providing solutions and bringing people together rather than resorting to outbursts like Green.
While acknowledging Green’s years of service to the community, Wilmer believes it’s time for a change and a focus on the future. He highlighted the importance of addressing kitchen table issues such as lowering healthcare premiums, improving flood protections in Houston, reducing the cost of living, and attracting businesses to the district.
Green, who has been in Congress since 2005, has had a history of easy victories in re-election campaigns. However, Wilmer believes that the residents of the 9th District are eager for a fresh perspective and new leadership. He sees himself as representing the future, in contrast to Green’s past.
In discussing his vision for the country, Wilmer emphasized the importance of supporting those in need, including the sick, elderly, military, and veterans. He believes in the principle of striving for perfection and excellence, even if America has not always been perfect. Wilmer sees America as an ongoing experiment in progress, constantly striving to set an example for the world.
Green, who has been vocal in his opposition to President Trump and has filed articles of impeachment against him, faced censure from Congress for his disruptive behavior during Trump’s speech. Despite the consequences, Green remains steadfast in his belief that everyone should have access to good healthcare.
In reaching out to Green’s office for comment, Fox News Digital was unable to receive a response. However, Wilmer remains committed to his campaign and his vision for moving Texas and America forward. With a focus on unity, solutions, and progress, Wilmer hopes to bring positive change to the 9th District if elected.
