House GOP faces backlash over sidelines tweet as Marjorie Taylor Greene joins critics

The House GOP faced a wave of criticism after a tweet from the House Republicans X account declared, “We need to get Americans off the sidelines.” The post was quickly met with backlash, with Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, R-Ga., joining in to express her disappointment.
“Americans got off the sidelines and handed us the majority in November. It’s the House GOP that is not passing President Trump’s executive orders, making DOGE cuts permanent, and hasn’t completed the big beautiful bill. Getting ratioed in comments is how Americans feel,” Greene wrote in response to the tweet.
BlazeTV host Auron MacIntyre also chimed in, slamming House Republicans and calling for them to pass a decent bill. Mark Mitchell of Rasmussen Reports echoed the sentiment, stating that Americans had gotten off the sidelines to elect them, only to see their efforts squandered.
In a separate tweet, the House GOP X account posted a message in both English and Spanish, which further fueled criticism. Rep. Brandon Gill, R-Texas, fired back, stating, “Is this a joke, @HouseGOP? We’re in America. We represent Americans. We don’t pander in foreign languages. Speak English.”
The controversy continued as MacIntyre emphasized the need for an “America First” approach and criticized the party for not doing enough to represent the Republican base. Conservative commentator Matt Walsh of the Daily Wire called for a complete overhaul of those associated with the account.
The House GOP’s missteps and failure to address key issues have drawn widespread condemnation from both within and outside the party. As the backlash continues to mount, it remains to be seen how the House Republicans will address the growing discontent among their constituents.
